McWhorter Capital Partners CEO Josh McWhorter, 38, founded his company in 2013. He cites the employees of the company as being “the true heroes, and the reason why I’ve received the acknowledgement and accolades I have.”
“The fact that our employees see value in what we do, as well as opportunities in their positions, speaks volumes to the culture here,” said McWhorter, who notes that since the launch of the Cartersville-based private equity and real estate investment firm, “We have had one person take another position at their choosing, that wasn’t relocating out of town.”
Involvement with the community is important in being a part of the McWhorter organization.
“We have enjoyed the ability to support a wide range of people, organizations and missions that play a critical role in our community,” McWhorter said. “It has never about how much money I or others could make — it’s always been about how many we could positively impact.”
McWhorter has two qualities that stand out, according to James Davis of McWhorter Goss General Contractors.
“He puts faith and family first; and, he treats everyone as an equal,” said Davis. “Josh sees the company as a well-oiled machine where when one fails, we all do — so he builds you up so you can perform just as well as all the others.”
“Josh is a fearless visionary with an incredibly strong moral compass,” said McWhorter Capital Chief Operating Officer Deanna Berry.
“He has never been afraid to take risks, do things differently and challenge the industry status quo — but in doing so, his decisions are biblically guided, which is a rare combination in the investment world,” she said. “He holds himself to almost impossibly high standards, and pushes others to do the same.”
